Lenoir, North Carolina (July 18, 2008) – Jenna Barlow of Hudson Middle School and Lauren Clark of Gamewell Middle School participated in the Kay Yow Basketball Camp in Raleigh on scholarships from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation. Jenna and Lauren were two of the 28 deserving young women awarded scholarships from North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives to attend the Kay Yow Basketball Camp this year. Winners of the Kay Yow Basketball Camp scholarship were selected by a panel of judges who reviewed an application that included an essay about the students’ reason for wanting to participate in the camp. Jenna and Lauren were selected based on the excellence of their applications and accompanying essays. The Kay Yow Basketball Camp was held June 22 -26 at N.C. State University.
“Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation is excited to have had the opportunity to send these commendable young co-op members to a basketball camp with a nationally renowned coach,” said Grey Scheer, director of community relations.
