Pat Triplett Named First Recipient of the Lifelong Learning Award

Lenoir, North Carolina (November 13, 2007) – Pat Triplett, executive director of the Education Foundation Inc. of Caldwell County, was honored today as the first recipient of the Lifelong Learning Award.
The award was created by Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation to recognize those who best exemplify the ideal of lifelong learning and reflect the Education Foundation’s mission of “helping to enhance the quality of education in Caldwell County.” Blue Ridge Electric presented the Lifelong Learning Award as part of its demonstration of commitment to education and supporting local communities.
The award was presented at the conclusion of the Bright Ideas luncheon honoring Caldwell County’s grant recipients, in which six local educator teams were awarded more than $6,500 by Blue Ridge Electric to implement their innovative academic classroom projects.
Triplett was recognized for her commitment to education, her contributions to the public good and for her tireless and numerous efforts throughout the years in enhancing the quality of local education.
Triplett graduated from Appalachian State University (ASU) with a degree in English and later earned her master’s degree in English with a minor in Higher Education. She also holds a master’s degree in Public Education from Gardner Webb University and had earlier earned an associate degree in nursing.
Triplett also has classroom teaching experience, having taught composition and literature at ASU as well as served as director of composition and literature at the University Writing Center. She also served as associate director of composition at Oklahoma State University and taught English at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. She has been with the Education Foundation since 1998.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 72,000 consumers in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Wilkes and Alexander counties.
