Hicks Promoted to Director of Member Services

Lenoir, North Carolina (December 22, 2006) – Sandra W. Hicks has been promoted to director of member services for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member-owned electric cooperative serving 70,000 consumers in northwest North Carolina.

Hicks has worked for Blue Ridge Electric in various customer service capacities since 1975. Most recently she served as the Caldwell District and call center manager for the past six years. Nine years prior to that, her sole responsibility was ensuring excellent telephone customer service as call center manager. Early in her career, she worked for Duke Power.

“Sandra has an unmatched passion for serving our members of Blue Ridge Electric and is a true leader in our cooperative’s mission of providing excellent, personal touch customer service,” said Lee Layton, chief operating officer.

Hicks holds an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and will complete work in 2007 to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Gardner Webb University. She is also a 1997 graduate of the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Caldwell. A native of Caldwell County, Hicks is a graduate of Hudson High School.

Hicks has spent much time and effort volunteering in various Caldwell County organizations, including: president of the Education Foundation; Lenoir Kiwanis member; Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation Fundraising Committee member; member of the Caldwell Advocacy for Disabled Employees; Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce board member; past chair of the United Way campaign; past PTO president of West Caldwell High School PTO; past council member and secretary of the Caldwell County PTO/PTA; past chair of Caldwell County Project Graduation; past member of the Town of Cajah’s Mountain Planning board; and past co-chair of Caldwell County Kaleidoscope. Hicks also is a recipient of the 2004 Blue Ridge Electric Commitment to Community award.

Hicks resides in Lenoir with her husband, Forrest, and has a son, Tyler Craig, who recently graduated from Appalachian State University. They attend Mountain Grove Baptist Church.
