Boone, North Carolina (November 19, 2000) – Watauga Education Foundation has received a $10,000 contribution from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
The announcement comes during Watauga Education Foundation Awareness Month, designated in November as a time to educate the community about the mission and purpose of the non-profit Foundation to support local education through a grant and scholarship program.
Watauga Education Foundation was founded by interested community citizens more than 10 years ago as a non-profit, volunteer organization.
“Assisting in the development of the communities we serve is part of the mission of Blue Ridge Electric as a cooperative business,” said Doug Johnson, chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Electric. “Our members have told us that education is one of their top priorities,” he continued, “and we’re proud to partner with Watauga Education Foundation in supporting this effort.”
Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving over 60,000 members in northwest North Carolina. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a provider of propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline.
