Lenoir, North Carolina (November 16, 2000) – With all the fallen leaves, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation wants to remind customers that ladders and power lines do not mix.
If you use to a ladder to clean leaves out of gutters or to put up holiday lights and decorations, make sure you stay aware of where power lines are at and avoid them. If you lift a ladder up in the wrong place, you could brush overhead power lines and give yourself a serious – and potentially fatal – electric shock.
Electric leaf blower and vacuums are great tools, but like all tools, they must be used with care. If your blower has a cord, be sure you use the appropriate extension cord with it.
This safety message is brought to you by Blue Ridge Electric, a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving over 60,000 members in northwest North Carolina. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline provider with offices in Lenoir, Morganton, Boone, and West Jefferson.
