Blue Ridge Electric Honors Employees with Service Awards

West Jefferson , North Carolina (October 27, 2000) — A group of 30 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently recognized for their service to the companies.

The company’s annual awards dinner was held recently at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone and featured remarks by Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.

Of the 30 recipients, six are employees of the company’s Ashe district office. They include: Fred Brooks, crew leader, 25 years; Roger Church, crew leader, 20 years; Dwight Shepherd, construction layout technician, Teena Little, operations coordinator, Olan Pruitt, crew leader, and Jeff Walker, line technician A, 15 years.

Johnson also recognized several other employees from the cooperative’s Lenoir headquarters and district offices in Caldwell, Watauga, and Alleghany counties for service milestones. They are: Gerald Huffman, 40 years; Sandra Hicks, Gary Herman, Ed Brown, and Judy Kerley, 25 years; Mary Sue Boutwell, Mike Lowe, and Steve Peterson, 20 years; Thomas Witherspoon, Tony Absher, R.D. Graybeal, Hal Isaacs, Teresa Marley, and Regina Bolick, 15 years; Nina Greene, Beverly Poole, Roger Barlow, Steve Carpenter, Leonard Church, Gwynita Steele, Geri Styers, and Karen Ford, 10 years; Keith Hensley and Sheila Callahan, 5 years.

Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving over 60,000 members in northwest North Carolina. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline provider with offices in Lenoir, Morganton, Boone, and West Jefferson.
