Chief Administrative Officer Named At Blue Ridge Electric

Lenoir, North Carolina (June 17, 2010) Julie O’Dell-Michie has been promoted to senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 73,000 consumers in northwest North Carolina.

She has over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, safety, organizational design and development. She also has specific expertise in the areas of succession planning, employee development, behavioral based safety programs, lean strategies, and corporate governance and policy.

O’Dell-Michie joined Blue Ridge Electric in 2003 as Director of Employee Development and was promoted to Vice President of Human Resources in 2004. In her new role, she will have additional areas of responsibility including governance, legal, risk assessment, and corporate continuity.

In addition to her responsibilities with the cooperative, O’Dell-Michie also oversees human resources for Blue Ridge Electric’s wholly owned heating fuels and commercial gasoline subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, LLC.

O’Dell-Michie is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she majored in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources Management. She is certified as a senior human resource professional. She has also received certifications in advanced employment law from the Institute of Applied Management and Law, as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, as a trainer for Total Safety Culture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and as a Total Quality Management Facilitator.

A native of Rockwood, Tennessee, O’Dell-Michie resides in the Deerfield community of Watauga County with her husband, Martin. They attend Deerfield United Methodist Church.
