Blue Ridge Recognizes Ashe District Employees

West Jefferson, North Carolina (April 29, 2010) — Employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and Blue Ridge Energies, LLC, were recognized for their service during the company’s annual employee awards dinner at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone.

Recognized from the Ashe office of Blue Ridge Electric and Blue Ridge Energies were: 25 years: Mary “Teena” Little, Operations Coordinator; Dwight Shepherd, Construction Layout Technician; and Jeffrey Walker, Line Technician A; 20 years: Gwynita Steele, District Manager; 10 years: Stephen Harless, Service Supervisor; and Scott Jordan, Heating Fuels Manager; five years: Scottie Barnes, Sales/Delivery; and Larry Wood, Line Technician A.

Little, along with Bob Colvard from Blue Ridge Energies, were also recognized during the ceremony as two of only eight employees nominated by fellow co-workers to receive the distinguished Spirit of Blue Ridge Award. The award recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate the key quality that service to others is the highest calling in life. It also honors qualities such as motivational team spirit, going above and beyond the call of duty, knowledge and expertise, community involvement, and leadership in attitude and dealings with others.
