Blue Ridge Electric Announces Full Power Restoration
Lenoir, North Carolina (February 8, 2010) - Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation announced power was fully restored as of Sunday evening to all members affected by the recent ice and snow storm.
The majority of the outages occurred in Alleghany County where ice, winds and falling trees led to loss of power for 712 members at the height of the storm Saturday afternoon. Outages peaks in other districts were: 322 members in Caldwell County on Friday at 11:30 a.m., 287 members in Ashe County on Friday at 9 p.m., and 195 members in Watauga County on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Blue Ridge line technicians were assisted by sister cooperative Randolph Electric Membership Corporation and Pike Corporation throughout their weekend battle with trees on power lines and icy conditions that led to outages in all counties of the cooperative's service area.
After a major storm, individual outages could be difficult to detect and therefore Blue Ridge Electric reminds members if they're without power to call the cooperative's Powerline at 1-800-448-2383.

Blue Ridge Electric serves some 73,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Avery and Alexander counties.
