Visitors Learn About All Things Green At GreenSmart Festival

Boone, North Carolina (July 27, 2009) – Visitors learned about energy efficiency, wind, solar, and all things “green” at the GreenSmart Festival organized by Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and held Saturday, July 25, in Appalachian State University’s Durham Park.
In addition to fun activities and food, those attending learned about the cooperative’s GreenSmart family of energy efficiency programs and a solar thermal rebate program Blue Ridge Electric will have available this fall. Other festival exhibitors also helped local residents learn about a wide range topics including: home energy audits, home solar thermal systems, residential wind systems, renewable energy, recycling, home weatherization funds, and other energy topics.
Entertaining at the GreenSmart Festival was the solar powered band “Southern Exposure”. ASU’s renewable energy mobile unit known as DAISEE (Driving Appropriate Innovative Sustainability Energy Education) was also on hand.
