Raleigh, North Carolina (June 16, 2009) – David Eggers, a director of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, was recently named vice president of the board of directors of The Tarheel Electric Membership Association (TEMA).

TEMA is a part of North Carolina’s Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC) serving the state’s electric cooperatives, including Blue Ridge Electric. It was formed in 1975 as the central purchasing and warehousing facility for the construction and maintenance supplies of its member cooperatives. It also serves as the cooperatives’ central dispatching agency during emergencies, such as storms and hurricanes, in order to provide coordinated response to distressed areas affected by power outages and damage to electric systems.

Eggers, who has served on the Blue Ridge Electric board since 2002, was elected as TEAM vice president during NCAEC’s statewide annual meeting held recently in Raleigh.

Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 73,000 consumers in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Avery and Alexander counties.
