West Jefferson, North Carolina (April 28, 2008) – To support Ashe County’s decision to become an ENERGY STAR partner and be more energy efficient, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation has donated energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) for each employee at the Ashe County Courthouse.
Ashe District Manager Gwynita Steele recently presented the bulbs to the county’s Energy Team. “Being energy efficient and doing the right thing for the environment often means taking simple steps, such as changing to CFLs,” she said. “We applaud the county’s efforts and want to partner with them and all our members to be good stewards of the environment by being as energy efficient as possible.”
ENERGY STAR is a voluntary partnership between businesses, government and others to protect the environment for future generations by changing to energy efficient practices today.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned cooperative serving some 73,000 consumers across northwest North Carolina.
