Power Restoration Nearly Complete: Saturday 7:30 a.m. Update

Lenoir, North Carolina (February 2, 2008) – Power restoration to Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation members is nearly complete Saturday morning, thanks to efforts of linemen working throughout the night to repair damaged power lines resulting from yesterday’s icy weather.
At the height of the outage Friday, 4,000 members were affected.
As of 7:30 a.m., 243 members in Ashe County remain without power this morning due to several difficult outage locations. Linemen are on the scene and expect to have power restored by mid-afternoon.
In, Alleghany County 30 members are without power this morning and crews are also at work to restore those remaining outages.
All Watauga and Caldwell county outages were restored Friday evening.
Visiting linemen assisted Blue Ridge Electric crews to restore power as quickly as possible. They were from: Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation, Energy United, Surry Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation and Shaw Energy Delivery Services Inc.
When an outage occurs, members are encouraged to report it immediately by calling the cooperative’s automated Powerline at 1-800-448-2383. Have the account number, address, and telephone number of the affected location on hand if possible.
