Member Survey Ranks Blue Ridge Electric Highest in Satisfaction

LENOIR, North Carolina (October 16, 2007) –A member survey on satisfaction commissioned by Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corp. shows members are extremely satisfied with the service they receive from the cooperative, giving the electric cooperative the highest ranking it has enjoyed in over two years. Blue Ridge Electric’s satisfaction rankings consistently place it among the top performing utilities in the nation.

The findings revealed a satisfaction score of 9.2 out of a possible 10 for Blue Ridge Electric. Blue Ridge scored highest in handling complaints, community commitment, being modern and providing reliable service.

“These results prove that our dedication to providing reliable electricity and extraordinary customer care is working,” said Blue Ridge Electric Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson. “Membership matters. We constantly strive to improve customer service and the efficiency and reliability of the power we provide to the 70,000 member-owners of our cooperative.

The study also rated the services members felt were most important. Members ranked providing good value, managing energy use, handling complaints, and reliable service as most important. “What is important to our members is important to us,” continued Johnson, noting energy conservation programs and Blue Ridge’s recent $20 million system upgrade as being key to ongoing delivery of high value, efficient and reliable energy.

The study, conducted by TSE Services, was commissioned by Blue Ridge Electric to determine member satisfaction with the utility as a whole, and across a number of specific services and geographic areas. The study included 450 residential and small commercial member telephone interviews from July 2007 through September 2007.
