Boone, North Carolina (August 17, 2007) – Blue Ridge Electric Membership employee Marianna Isaacs, senior land rights specialist, was recently designated as a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal. A legal assistant or paralegal is a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity, who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work under the supervision of a North Carolina licensed attorney. A college degree with 5,000 hours of work in the paralegal field is required to achieve this designation.
“This certification gives added credibility to Blue Ridge Electric as I deal with landowners across our system concerning right-of-way for transmission lines and substations,” Isaacs said. “I hope it also demonstrates my professional and ethical commitment to our member-owners.”
“Blue Ridge Electric is proud to have a Certified Paralegal on staff to assist with paralegal related duties like easement language, land and right-of-way acquisition, and title research,” said Mike High, director of engineering services.
Isaacs is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has worked for Blue Ridge Electric as a land rights specialist since 2005.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative serving some 70,000 member-owners in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Alexander and Wilkes counties.
