New President, Officers Elected at Blue Ridge Electric

Lenoir, North Carolina (June 28, 2007) – The board of directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation recently elected a new slate of officers following the board’s regularly scheduled meeting held after the annual membership meeting on Saturday, June 9.
Elected as president was Kenneth Greene, of Ashe district, who has served on the board since 1988. Greene, who is partner in the Builder’s Mart and Laurel Custom Homes, previously served as vice president and before that as secretary-treasurer. He replaces outgoing board president John Woodruff, who retired from the board after serving 39 years and has served as president of the cooperative since 2002.
Elected as vice president was Jeff Joines. Joines, of Caldwell district, previously served as secretary-treasurer and has been a member of the board since 1998.
Joy Coffey, of Watauga district, was elected as secretary-treasurer. She has been a board member since 1996 and previously served as assistant secretary-treasurer.
Charity Gambill, director-at-large, was elected as assistant secretary-treasurer. Gambill resides in Alleghany County and has been a board member since 1976.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned cooperative serving some 70,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Avery and Alexander counties. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, provides propane and other heating fuels to residential and commercial customers from offices in Conover, Lenoir, Boone, West Jefferson and Sparta.
