Blue Ridge Electric Announces New Director David Boone to Fulfill Remainder of Jackie Blackburns Term

Lenoir, North Carolina (June 1, 2007) –David Boone has been appointed to the board of directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
Boone will fulfill the unexpired term of Ashe District director Jackie Blackburn, who passed away unexpectedly in January. Boone was recommended by an ad hoc committee of the board and approved by board members at their regular May meeting in accordance with the bylaws of the cooperative. The term expires at the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting.
Boone is a native of Ashe County and owns Boone Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in West Jefferson. He graduated from Ashe Central High School, the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and earned a degree in marketing from East Tennessee State University.
Boone and his wife Sandy live in the Smethport community of Ashe County.

Boone will be introduced to the membership during the 2007 Annual Membership Meeting being held June 9 at Ashe County High School.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned cooperative providing service to some 70,000 consumers in Ashe, Alleghany, Caldwell, Watauga, Wilkes and Alexander counties. A 12-member board of directors guides the management and operations of the cooperative. Directors, who serve staggered three year terms, must be members of the cooperative and are elected by their peers at the Annual Membership Meeting, which is held the second Saturday in June each year.
