Lenoir, North Carolina (January 22, 2007) – Jeff Almond has been named Caldwell district manager for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member-owned electric utility serving some 70,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes and Alexander counties.

Almond formerly served as Blue Ridge Electric’s consumer accounting manager where he oversaw the consumer accounting staff and the billing and consumer accounting systems.

In his new role, Almond will oversee the critical, front line role in member service and community involvement for the cooperative’s Caldwell County members. He will also oversee the call center, which serves the cooperative’s entire membership with telephone customer service.

“We’re excited to have Jeff in his new role,” said Lee Layton, chief operating officer. “He has a deep commitment to Caldwell County and his experience and leadership will be valuable in ensuring excellent customer service for our Caldwell County members and all members of the cooperative being served through our call center,” said Layton.

Almond is a graduate of Appalachian State University and attended Campbell University School of Law as well as the University Of North Carolina School Of Banking. He joined Blue Ridge Electric in 2004 after serving seven years as vice president and branch manager of First Citizens Bank & Trust Company in Granite Falls. He brings a total of 19 years banking experience and customer service to the cooperative.

Before joining Blue Ridge Electric, Almond served on the cooperative’s Community Leaders Council and is a past chairman of the cooperative’s Member Advisory Committee.
Almond lives in Hudson with his wife, Devonda, and their children: Bethany and Jonathan.
