Lenoir, North Carolina (February 16, 2006) – Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation has announced that new contractors have been hired to assist with electric plant maintenance and construction services that will help the cooperative continue providing highly reliable power to some 69,000 members.
Shaw Group Energy Delivery Services was recently awarded a four-year contract from Blue Ridge Electric after a competitive bidding process. The company is a provider of design, installation, engineering, construction and maintenance services for electrical transmission and distribution systems across the nation.
Members used to seeing Pike Electric’s bright yellow trucks in their communities working on the Blue Ridge Electric system will now also begin seeing white trucks with the Shaw name and their red and blue logo.
Shaw and Pike perform a variety of contract services for Blue Ridge Electric, including system improvements, power line extensions, and pole change-outs. With the addition of Shaw for maintenance and construction, Blue Ridge Electric and its members will also benefit from having additional resources to call on in the event of storms or other power restoration emergencies.
Blue Ridge Electric works to achieve operating efficiencies by utilizing qualified contractors for a large portion of construction and electric plant projects. The ability to maintain the highest level of member satisfaction is also considered during the contractor hiring process. Contractors are considered an extension of Blue Ridge Electric and are trained in the Blue Ridge standards of customer satisfaction, courtesy and care to each member and their property.
Members should be aware that Shaw contractors will be driving white trucks with the Shaw name, as well as decals indicating they are a Blue Ridge Electric contractor.
