Huffman Named Human Resources Manager

Lenoir, North Carolina (February 6, 2006) - Amanda Huffman was recently promoted to manger of human resources for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
Huffman, a senior human resources professional (SPHR), has worked for Blue Ridge Electric for the past five years in the position of employee services specialist. She has 10 years experience in the human resources field. Most recently, she was named by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRCA) to its National Health Care Task Force, which will help the build plan design for the more than 86,000 employees and their families insured by cooperatives across the United States.
“Amanda is very deserving of this promotion,” said her supervisor, Julie O’Dell Michie, vice president of human resources and administration. “She has demonstrated professionalism and works very hard on behalf of our employees in the area of benefits administration, wellness coordination, employee recruiting and overall employee relations for Blue Ridge Electric and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies.”
Huffman earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Gardner-Webb University and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a degree in economics. She and her husband Alan live in Granite Falls with their son, Alec, and daughter, Adele. She is active in the Society for Human Resource Management and the Granite Falls Rotary Club.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 69,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes and Alexander counties. Its heating fuels subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, provides residential, commercial and industrial propane and heating fuels to consumers in Catawba, Caldwell, Watauga, Avery, Ashe and Alleghany counties.
