Boone, North Carolina (September 22, 2005) – Mack Brown Inc. recently donated the use of one of their Chevrolet vans to Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation to carry supplies to linemen working on power restoration in the Gulf area.

Hurricane Katrina caused widespread power outages, deaths, and mass destruction in Mississippi and other Gulf states when it made landfall in late August.

Blue Ridge Electric sent a total of 27 employees, in two different crews, to assist with the critical need of power restoration starting September 1. The van will be used by Watauga District Operations Manger Harold Huffman who will deliver supplies to Blue Ridge linemen still working in difficult conditions in Mississippi.

Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 68,000 members in northwest North Carolina.

Mack Brown Inc. is a family owned business that has served the High Country with GM, Chevrolet, Buick and Pontiac vehicles and service for more than 50 years.
