Blue Ridge Electric Interns Learning From Summer Jobs

Lenoir, North Carolina (July 11, 2005) – Two Caldwell County students are enhancing their classroom studies as they perform internships at Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation this summer.
Casey Campbell, a 2005 South Caldwell High School graduate who will enter Western Carolina University this fall, and Tyler Craig, a 2002 West Caldwell High School graduate and rising senior at Appalachian State University (ASU), and are getting front line customer service experience during their summer internships.
Campbell works at the cooperative’s Lenoir office and is the daughter of Freddie and Lisa Campbell of Baton. She will major in special education at WCU and recently received a North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship worth $26,000 over the next four years.
“I am pleased that Blue Ridge Electric offers this opportunity to college students in our community,” said Sandra Hicks, Caldwell district and call center manager for Blue Ridge Electric. “And I am very proud to have an employee like Casey delivering excellent service to our membership.”
Craig works in the Boone office of Blue Ridge Electric. He is majoring in Communications/Organizational Public Relations with a minor in Sociology at ASU, where he’s been in involved in intramural sports and has worked with the Community on Aging. He is the son of Sandra Hicks and Ronnie Craig of Lenoir.
“Tyler has used his communication skills to give our members outstanding customer service,” said Susan Jones, district manager of the Watauga office. “This is Tyler’s second year that he’s interned with us, and we have enjoyed having him for the past two summers,” she added.
Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative serving some 68,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Alexander, and Wilkes counties.
