West Jefferson, North Carolina (July 8, 2005) – An Ashe County student is enhancing her classroom studies and preparing for the future as she performs an internship at Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation this summer.

Jenny Ann Grubb, a 2005 Ashe County High School graduate who will enter the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) this fall, is getting front line customer service experience during her summer internship. Grubb works in the Ashe district office of Blue Ridge Electric and performs a variety of customer service functions.

“We are always interested in working with youth and developing future leaders,” said Gwynita Steele, district manager for Blue Ridge Electric’s Ashe office. “We also need extra help in our office during vacation time, so this has worked out nicely. Jenny is a perfect fit,” she added.

Grubb plans to major in pharmaceutical research at UNC. She was salutatorian at Ashe County High School as well as battalion commander in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). She was also a member of the Beta Club and Spanish Honors Society in high school. She is a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church and enjoys riding horses and singing in church.

Grubb is the daughter of David and Penny Grubb of Todd.

Blue Ridge Electric is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative serving some 68,000 members in Ashe, Watauga Caldwell, Alleghany, Alexander, and Wilkes counties.
