Vice President Named At Blue Ridge Electric

Lenoir, North Carolina (August 6, 2004) – Julie O’Dell-Michie has been named vice president of human resources and administration for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 67,000 consumers in northwest North Carolina.
In addition to her responsibilities with the cooperative, O’Dell-Michie also oversees human resources for Blue Ridge Electric’s wholly owned heating fuels and commercial gasoline subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, LLC.
O’Dell-Michie formerly served in the role of director of employee development for the cooperative. She came to Blue Ridge Electric last year, bringing with her over 14 years experience in human resources, organizational design and development, and succession planning. The majority of her career had been spent at Sara Lee Corporation, where she left as director of human resources and was responsible for compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruiting/
retention, safety/worker’s compensation, career management, and organizational development. She has also worked for Wachovia, Kimberly-Clark, and Kayser-Roth Corporation.
O’Dell-Michie is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she majored in Business Management with a focus in Human Resources. She is certified as a senior human resource professional. She has also received certifications in advanced employment law from the Institute of Applied Management and Law, as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, as a trainer for Total Safety Culture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and as a Total Quality Management Facilitator.
She is a Watauga County Humane Society volunteer and is a member of the National Society for Human Resources Management.
A native of Rockwood, Tennessee, O’Dell-Michie resides in the Deerfield community of Watauga County with her husband, Martin. They attend Deerfield United Methodist Church.
