Blue Ridge Electric Interns Learning From Summer Jobs

Lenoir, North Carolina (July 9, 2004) – Two Caldwell County college students are enhancing their classroom studies as they perform internships this summer at Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.

Tyler Craig, a 2002 West Caldwell High School graduate and rising junior at Appalachian State University (ASU), and Abrahm Saunders, a 2002 South Caldwell High School graduate and rising junior at Western Carolina University (WCU), are getting front line customer service experience in their summer internships. Craig works in the Boone office of Blue Ridge Electric while Saunders is working at the Lenoir office. Both are performing a variety of customer service functions in the district offices.

Craig is majoring in Communications/Public Relations at ASU, where he’s also involved in intramural sports and has worked with the Community on Aging. Upon graduation, Craig is planning to pursue a job in management or obtain a higher education degree. He attends Mountain Grove Baptist Church and is the son of Sandra Hicks and Ronnie Craig of Lenoir.

Saunders is majoring in social sciences and secondary education. He will be mentoring incoming freshmen next year as part of his affiliation with WCU’s Honors Education Mentor program. He is also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, where he serves as Relay for Life chairman. Saunders, who attends Mountain Grove Baptist Church, plans on a teaching career after graduation. He is the son of John and Rachel Saunders of Hudson.
