Susan Jones Named Watauga District Manager

Boone, North Carolina (February 17, 2004) – Susan Jones has been named district manager of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation’s Boone office.
Jones, a resident of Watauga County, comes to Blue Ridge Electric from Wachovia Corporation in Boone where she served as financial center manager. She brings over 15 years of customer service experience to Blue Ridge and has had responsibilities for account management, sales, and work team development. In her new role, Jones will provide a critical, front line role in member service and community involvement.
Jones will work in partnership with Harold Huffman, operations manager, and will supervise the Watauga district office customer service staff where she focuses on leading the charge to provide the highest level customer service to members in Watauga County. In addition, Jones will also coordinate Watauga County showroom sales and propane customer service for the cooperative’s heating fuels subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies.
The position of district manager was recently created within the cooperative to signify Blue Ridge Electric’s commitment to serving its members with strong leadership in customer service and community involvement.
“Jones has deep roots and a genuine devotion to Watauga County and our members here. Her community involvement is a reflection of her commitment and we know she will do an excellent job in leading the customer service effort for the benefit of Watauga County members,” said Beverly Finney, senior vice president of public and employee relations.
Jones is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. She currently serves as treasurer for the Boone Kiwanis Club. She is also involved in volunteer work for American Red Cross, High Country United Way, and the Girl Scout Council of Catawba Valley. In 1998, she received a certification as a graduate of the Watauga Leadership Challenge through the Boone area Chamber of Commerce.
Susan, her husband Frank, and daughters Kaitlin and Sarah, have been residents of the Boone area for over 20 years. They are members of Boone United Methodist Church.
Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit member-owned electric cooperative, serving some 66,000 consumers in Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Caldwell, and Wilkes counties. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, provides propane, heating fuels, and related appliances from offices in Boone, Lenoir, Hickory, and West Jefferson.
