Blue Ridge Recognizes Employees

Lenoir, North Carolina (October 14, 2003) – A group of 42 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and Blue Ridge Energies, LLC, were recognized for their service during the company’s annual employee awards dinner and celebration at Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone.
Nineteen of those honored were based out of Lenoir offices. They include: Doug Johnson, chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Electric and Blue Ridge Energies, recognized for 25 years of service; Bruce Drum, director of electric plant development, 40 years; Bill Elliott, reliability manager, 30 years; Horry Kent Jr., crew leader, 25 years; Mickey Pennell, crew leader, 25 years; Ward “Hoss” Prestwood, construction specialist, 20 years; Larry Wagoner, line technician, 20 years; Judy Bryant, consumer accounts coordinator, 15 years; Brad Hoover, maintenance specialist, 15 years; Nadine Rogers, administrative assistant, 15 years; Rita Triplett, metering data coordinator, 15 years; Vickie Vines, customer service center representative, 15 years; Anthony Ford, line technician, 10 years; Danny Gilbert, cost accountant, 10 years; Shane Absher, Blue Ridge Energies service technician, five years; Dianne Derreberry, Blue Ridge Energies accounting associate, five years; John Miller, Blue Ridge Energies sales and delivery, five years; Darrell Vines, Blue Ridge Energies lead service technician, five years; and Renee Whitener, director of corporate communications, five years.
Also receiving an award was Gene Church, lead service technician for the Blue Ridge Energies Catawba office, for five years.
Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving some 66,000 member-owners in northwest North Carolina. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline provider with offices in Lenoir, Boone, and West Jefferson, and Hickory.
