Gwynita Steele Named Ashe District Manager

West Jefferson, North Carolina (October 7, 2003) – Gwynita Steele has been named district manager of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation’s West Jefferson office.
Steele, a native of Ashe County, has been employed with Blue Ridge Electric for 13 years, most recently as director of customer service. In her new role, Steele will provide a critical, front line role in member service and community involvement for Ashe County members.
Steele will work in partnership with Jack Goodman, operations manager, and will supervise the Ashe district office customer service staff where she will continue her focus on leading the charge to provide the highest level customer service to members in Ashe County. In addition, Steele will also oversee showroom sales operations for the cooperative’s heating fuels subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, which has offices in Ashe, Watauga, Caldwell and Catawba counties.
“Gwynita has deep roots in Ashe County and even though she’s lived in Watauga County for the past few years, she has remained very involved in Ashe County. She has a deep compassion and care for Ashe County and its people, and is a perfect fit for this new role,” said Beverly Finney, senior vice president of public and employee relations for Blue Ridge Electric.
The position of district manager is a new role created within the cooperative to signify Blue Ridge Electric’s commitment to serving its members with strong leadership in customer service and community involvement.
“Coming home to Ashe County is something I’ve always known I would do eventually,” said Steele, who, with husband Harry, recently purchased a new home in Ashe County. “This is an exciting new opportunity and I look forward to serving our members in Ashe County and becoming even more involved in our community.”
Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit member-owned electric cooperative, serving some 66,000 consumers in Ashe, Alleghany, Caldwell, Watauga and Wilkes counties.
