RALEIGH, NC (APRIL 14, 2003)—Two officials of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation have been cited for their years of service to the electric cooperative.
President John Woodruff, of Sparta, was recognized for his 35 years of service. Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson, of Lenoir, was honored for his 25 years of service.
The meritorious service awards were presented at the North Carolina’s Association of Electric Cooperatives’ recent annual meeting in Raleigh. NCAEC is the trade association for 27 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including Blue Ridge Electric. The cooperatives provide reliable, safe, and affordable electric service to more than 850,000 homes, farms, and businesses in North Carolina. The co-ops, also known as Electric Membership Corporations, are individually member-owned, not-for-profit, and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership.
Blue Ridge Electric, a Touchstone Energy cooperative, serves more than 65,500 members in the counties of Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Watauga, Caldwell, Alexander, and Avery.
