Lenoir, North Carolina (August 15, 2002) – To help kick off the school year and jump start 2002-2003 school/ business partnerships, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, recently delivered refreshments to educators and a $100 check to the company’s three school partners: Horizons Elementary School, Collettsville Elementary School and William Lenoir Middle School.
“We support education in many different ways in the local communities we serve and our school partnerships are an important part of our commitment,” said Doug Johnson, chief executive officer.
Each year, Blue Ridge Electric and Blue Ridge Energies meet with the principals of the schools to plan a course of action that creates a bond between the students and teachers and our companies. This relationship helps encourage and reward students in various ways, including attendance, reading and behavior.
