RALEIGH, NC, July 5, 2002 — Two directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation were recently recognized for service to the electric cooperative.
Director Charity Gambill of Sparta was recently honored for her 25 years of service, while Director Oren Teague of Granite Falls was cited for his 35 years of service.
The meritorious service awards were presented at the North Carolina’s Association of Electric Cooperatives’ recent annual meeting in Raleigh. NCAEC is the trade association for 27 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including Blue Ridge Electric. The cooperatives provide reliable, safe and affordable electric service to more than 850,000 homes, farms, and businesses in North Carolina. The co-ops, also known as Electric Membership Corporations, are member-owned, not-for-profit and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership.
Blue Ridge Electric serves over 64,000 members in the counties of Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Watauga, Caldwell, Alexander and Avery. The cooperative is a member of Touchstone Energy, a national network of local, customer-owned utilities committed to providing superior service.
