Blue Ridge Electric Honors Employees with Service Awards

Lenoir, North Carolina (January 11, 2002) — A group of 39 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently recognized for their service to the companies.
The annual employee awards dinner was held at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone and featured remarks by Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.
Of the 39 recipients, three are employees of the cooperative’s Watauga district office. They include: Harold Huffman, operations manager, 40 years; Scott Eggers, operations manager for Blue Ridge Energies, 15 years; and Will Townsend, crew leader, 10 years. Watauga County resident Glenn Grubb, director of purchasing and facilities at Blue Ridge Electric’s corporate headquarters in Lenoir was presented with a 20-year award.
Johnson also recognized several other employees from the cooperative’s Lenoir headquarters and from district offices in Caldwell, Ashe, and Alleghany counties for service milestones. They are: Bud Ayers, Ed Younce, and Judy Raby, 35 years; Penny Harless, Rex Barker, Roger Reid, 30 years; Bill Terry, Roger Conley, 25 years; Oscar Reeves, Donnie Spencer, Robert Kent, Gary Critcher, Jo Ann Walker, Elmer Dula, Willadean Wilson, 20 years; Tracy Davis, Paula Pope, Jeff Benfield, Tim Story, Steve Taylor, Mike Bryant, Duane Ayers, Gay Wyatt, Russell Sheets, Lonnie Dalton, Rand Smith, Kenneth Hartzog, 15 years; Lee Chase, Reba Brewer, David Barlow, and Gail Harrell, 10 years; Donna Benge, Jana Wike, David Huffstetler, and Zimri Stokely, 5 years.
