Blue Ridge Electric Honors Employees with Service Awards

Lenoir, North Carolina (January 11, 2002) — A group of 39 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently recognized for their service to the companies.

The annual employee awards dinner was held at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone and featured remarks by Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.

Of the 39 recipients, 23 are employees of the cooperative’s corporate office, Caldwell district office, and the Lenoir Blue Ridge Energies office. They include: Bud Ayers, Judy Raby, and Ed Younce, 35 years; Roger Reid, 30 years; Bill Terry and Roger Conley, 25 years; Robert Kent, Jo Ann Walker, Glenn Grubb, Paula Pope, Elmer Dula, and Willadean Wilson, 20 years; Jeff Benfield, Tim Story, Mike Bryant, Duane Ayers, and Rand Smith, 15 years; Lee Chase, Reba Brewer, and David Barlow, 10 years; Donna Benge, Jana Wike, David Huffstetler, and Zimri Stokely, 5 years.

Johnson also recognized several other employees from the cooperative’s district offices in Watauga, Ashe, and Alleghany counties for service milestones. They are: Harold Huffman, 40 years; Penny Harless, Rex Barker, 30 years; Oscar Reeves, Donnie Spencer, Gary Critcher, 20 years; Tracy Davis, Scott Eggers, Steve Taylor, Gay Wyatt, Russell Sheets, Lonnie Dalton, Kenneth Hartzog, 15 years; Will Townsend, David Barlow, and Gail Harrell, 10 years.

Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving over 63,000 members in northwest North Carolina. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline provider with offices in Lenoir, Boone, and West Jefferson, Sparta, and Hickory.
