Blue Ridge Electric Earns National Safety Recognition

Lenoir, North Carolina (June 15, 2000) – Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation has earned national recognition for its comprehensive safety program.

The electric cooperative has qualified for a reaccredidation certificate for the program from the National Rural Cooperative Electric Association. The national association conducts accreditation reviews of cooperative safety efforts every three years.

This certificate is the 12th to be awarded to the cooperative since the program’s inception, and the cooperative has earned consecutive accreditations since 1968. The award was presented at the recent annual meeting of the North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC) in Raleigh and accepted by Doug Johnson, CEO.

Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation serves over 63,000 members in the counties of Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Watauga, Caldwell, Alexander and Avery.
