Blue Ridge Electric Officials Honored

Raleigh, North Carolina (June 15, 2001) — Two directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation have been recognized for their years of service to the electric cooperative.

G.C. Norris of Boone was recently honored for his 20 years of service, while Charles C. Edwards of West Jefferson was cited for his 35 years of service.

The meritorious service awards were presented by James E. Mangum, general manager of Wake EMC, Wake Forest, and president of the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC) at the organization’s annual meeting in Raleigh. NCEMC is the power supply provider to 27 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including Blue Ridge. The cooperatives provide reliable, safe and affordable electric service to more than 750,000 homes, farms and businesses in North Carolina. The co-ops, also known as Electric Membership Corporations, are member-owned, not-for-profit and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership.

Blue Ridge EMC serves over 63,000 members in the counties of Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Watauga, Caldwell, Alexander and Avery. The cooperative is a member of Touchstone Energy, a network of local, customer-owned utilities around the country committed to providing superior service at affordable rates to all customers large and small.
