Lenoir, North Carolina (March 22, 2001) – Linemen from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, along with assisting crews from neighboring cooperatives and contractors, have restored power to members affected by a spring snowstorm this week that caused downed lines and multiple outages.

At the height of the outage situation, 8,000 members in primarily Ashe and Watauga counties were without power. Linemen worked until 3 a.m. this morning to restore most of the power, with electricity to the remaining 250 members restored by early afternoon. A total of 32 crews worked in the power restoration effort, with assistance to Blue Ridge provided by Rutherford EMC and Energy United as well as Pike Electric Co.

Blue Ridge Electric appreciates the patience and cooperation of its members during the outage, and expresses appreciation to other community partners such as local emergency management centers.
