Substation Upgrade Work Taking Place in Southern Caldwell County Midnight Thursday

Lenoir, North Carolina (March 21, 2001) – To better serve southern Caldwell County, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation is upgrading its substation serving that area at midnight Thursday, necessitating a brief outage for members in that area.
Power is expected to be off for up to an hour for approx- imately 400 members, with an additional 3,000 members experiencing a momentary interruption in service.
The substation is being upgraded to meet the electricity needs of this fast- growing area of Caldwell County, according to Renee Whitener, corporate communications director. Blue Ridge Electric is conducting the upgrade during a time that normally causes the least impact on residents and businesses, Whitener said.
Whitener added that Blue Ridge Electric appreciates the cooperation and patience of its members as this necessary work is performed to ensure reliable service now and into the future for its members.
