Blue Ridge Electric Honors Employees with Service Awards

Lenoir, North Carolina (October 19, 2000) — A group of 30 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently recognized for their service to the companies.
The annual employee awards dinner was held October 14 at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone and featured remarks by Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.
Of the 30 recipients, 16 are employees of the Lenoir headquarters and the Caldwell district office. They include: Gerald Huffman, construction specialist, 40 years; Gary Herman, construction specialist; Sandra Hicks, customer service manager; and Ed Brown, computer operator, 25 years; Mary Sue Boutwell, executive secretary; Mike Lowe, test and maintenance manager; Steve Peterson, construction manager, 20 years; Teresa Marley, executive assistant; Tony Absher, vehicle mechanic; and Regina Bolick, district operations coordinator, 15 years; Roger Barlow, system operator; Gwynita Steele, director of customer service; Karen Ford, administrative secretary; and Geri Styers, consumer accountant, 10 years; Sheila Callahan, accounting associate, 5 years.
Johnson also recognized employees from the cooperative’s district offices in Watauga, Ashe, and Alleghany counties at the event for service milestones. They include: Judy Kerley and Fred Brooks, 25 years; Roger Church, 20 years; R.D. Graybeal, Hal Isaacs, Dwight Shepherd, Tenna Little, Olan Pruitt, Jeff Walker, and Tommy Witherspoon, 15 years; Nina Greene, Beverly Poole, Steve Carpenter, and Leonard Church, 10 years; and Keith Hensley, 5 years.
Blue Ridge Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving over 60,000 members in northwest North Carolina. Its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, is a propane, heating fuels, and commercial gasoline provider with offices in Lenoir, Morganton, Boone, and West Jefferson.
