Blue Ridge Electric Honors Employees with Service Awards

Sparta, North Carolina (October 19, 2000) — A group of 30 employees from Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and its subsidiary, Blue Ridge Energies, were recently recognized for their service to the companies.
The annual employee awards dinner was held October 14 at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in Boone and featured remarks by Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.
Of the 30 recipients, four are employees of the Alleghany district office. They include: Thomas Witherspoon, field service technician, 15 years; Beverly Poole, customer service representative; Steve Carpenter, crew leader; and Leonard Church, field service technician, 10 years.
Johnson also recognized several other employees from the cooperative’s Lenoir headquarters and from district offices in Caldwell, Watauga, and Ashe counties for service milestones. They are: Gerald Huffman, 40 years; Sandra Hicks, Gary Herman, Ed Brown, Fred Brooks, and Judy Kerley, 25 years; Mary Sue Boutwell, Mike Lowe, Roger Church, and Steve Peterson, 20 years; Dwight Shepherd, Teena Little, Tony Absher, R.D. Graybeal, Olan Pruitt, Jeff Walker, Hal Isaacs, Teresa Marley, and Regina Bolick, 15 years; Nina Greene, Roger Barlow, Gwynita Steele, Geri Styers, and Karen Ford, 10 years; Keith Hensley and Sheila Callahan, 5 years.
