Youth Leadership Council of the NRECA

Alleghany High School Senior Jacob Brooks was selected to be the national spokesperson for the Youth Leadership Council of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Among his responsibilities as national spokesperson for the Youth Leadership Council, Jacob addressed the national convention of electric cooperatives in Atlanta, Georgia, in February. Additionally, he and other Youth Leadership Council members will provide assistance to the NRECA staff and co-op delegates; participate in the Parade of States at the opening General Session, and take part in a variety of educational activities.

Jacob has also been selected for several national honors, including being invited as a regular columnist in our statewide magazine, Carolina Country, based on his leadership, speaking, and writing abilities.
